The Green Ocean
03:51
|
|||
All my friends in the city, I wrote them
There is a Tussock Grass here that’s so solemn
I’ve been watching it bow cleverly
before the gale
Every hare in the meadow is listening
over the plains if the Starlings are whistling
But onto their pointed ears whispers a wind
carrying Quails
Whether the Storks are tapping for courtship
or to applaud the lithe Penduline Tit
They have returned to their bumpy plots
carrying thy mail
Carpets of Goosegrass hinge onto Celandine
adorning the vent of a desolate copper mine
Is the green ocean hiding a shaft
wherein i wail?
All of my friends in the city, I wrote them
how a celestial tinge was unfolding
casting a reddish light onto the mirror
of a calm lake
Hidden in Pondweed under the surface
slumbers a pike that doesn’t turn, lest
the queen Bittern vectors her beads
onto his scales
A handful of Water Striders is sliding
for the invisible ones that are hiding
Are they performing a crooked ballet
wherein I wail?
Is it but an ocean
giving the poet’s voice a sound
Longing for emotion
because it’s cold and stark?
Every tree is brut for burning
whilst a seed bears its returning
Bump a bee out of the sky

Feathers
02:08
|
|||
I have a fascination: Feathers
Feathers!
This feather is iridescent
Another one is female Pheasant
Something in the trees is shedding
Is it Oriole
hidden among the poplars
yodelling?
This one must be Great Spotted
Here we have a White-backed
Something in the reeds is shedding
Does the weasel know
there is a rising popstar
stretching his baritone?
His baritone
There is a migration influx!

Two Little Birds
02:55
|
|||
What if you and me were
two little birds by the sea
What would you be?
Light with marble shades
A quick glide over the waves
Too hard to chase?
Or lean and very long with
two red legs to stand on
And would you sleep on just one?
What if you and me were
two little birds in the trees
What would you be?
Small with tiny toes
to hide and flee from your foes
into some rose?
Or a darker bird of song
echoing all night long
while you’re keeping us warm?
What if you and I were
two little birds in the sky?

The Cuckoo
03:47
|
|||
I am the cuckoo
and i wonder why
i’m constantly thinking
my siblings should die
I love them so i told them
get some off my chest
I’ll kick your bald faces
out of the nest
What is happening?
Why do i bear these thoughts?
Help me!
Something is wrong with me
I’ve seen, in the river
that i’m nothing like
my two tiny parents
They’d fit in me twice
I love them so i told them
and they replied:
Although you are bigger
you do have our eyes
Now what is this shit?!
Why are you lying to me?
Tell me!
Is something wrong with me??
I can not sing the rhythm
my family hones
Nor can i reach all
their high semitones
I sound more like the stranger
who’s always alone,
singing to mother,
two lousy tones
Who is that man,
secretly spying on me?
Buddy bird!
Tell me you hold the key

Shoes & Toupees
04:06
|
|||
Rosy starlings at a lek territory
are quarrelling with Ruffs
A cold-hearted Pied Flycatcher frolics
and boasts about his cap
Two Demoiselle Cranes imitate
the fat shake of the Peacock
A Eurasian Nuthatch washes
dirt and debris off of his back
Turtle doves laugh at the motley
collection of exotic kin
A Rough-legged Buzzard flies over
the cafe doing his paw thing
Everybody starts screaming when they see
what the eastern winds blew in
It’s the Golden Oriole ruffing everyone
with his black wings
Style among birds is a masculine trait
Notice that early in march when the foliage awakes
Every man partakes on the fashion runway
displaying shoes and toupees
Flown in from Sweden, the classic Bluethroat
Collars with blue and a red or white spot in the middle
Polka dots were last years favourite
but the peckers have stayed home
The proud Magpie hosts the event
in a ironed tuxedo
House Sparrows walk in to promote
the importance of fair clothes
The Bee-eaters flaunt with their colours
who knows where they bought those?
Style among birds is a masculine trait
Notice that early in march when the foliage awakes
Every man partakes on the fashion runway
displaying shoes and toupees
Flown in from Sweden, the classic Bluethroat
Collars with blue and a red or white spot in the middle

The Lammergeier
04:32
|
|||
Halfway during a bus ride
in the Spanish Pyrenees
My birding buddy screams, she’s seen
the Lammergeier
Everybody’s staring at the sky
into the valley green
All we spotted was a Finch, no sign
of a Lammergeier
All we spotted was a Finch, no sign
of a Lammergeier
The king? The High Priest?
What did you just see
through the window screen?!
Sure you weren’t thinking
about the husband
of your dreams, honey?
Chaplin, Dali?
I know you love a moustache
so wasn’t it a hot flash?
Sure you weren’t blinking
at the time of the scene?
We took many hairpin turns
while we drove down in the heat
I’m sure that you were busy
trying to catch some sleep
The night before was a long night?
We had red wine and some beer
Or have you really seen
the Lammergeier?
Or have you really seen
the rare Lammergeier?
The king? The High Priest?
What did you just see
through the window screen?!
Sure you weren’t thinking
about the husband
of your dreams, honey?
Chaplin, Dali?
I know you love a moustache
so wasn’t it a hot flash?
Sure you weren’t blinking
at the time of the scene?

The Mockingbird
03:07
|
|||
I’m right behind you, I’m…
I’m right behind you, I’m…
I’m right behind you, I’m…
I’m right behind you, I’m…
Do you recognise me?
I’m the mockingbird
I can change colours
I’m the mockingbird
I could do a pop song
I’m the mockingbird
Cry over a folk song
I’m the mockingbird
I’m the mockingbird
The mockingbird
Lone bird
Hello to you, in the darkness
You heard little dove coo
in the darkness
Dawn hurts
Go slow into the darkness
You heard the mockingbird
in the darkness
Now do you recognise me?
I’m the mockingbird
I can change colours
I’m the mockingbird
I could do a pop song
I’m the mockingbird
Cry over a folk song
I’m the mockingbird
I’m the mockingbird
The mockingbird
