Glued to the periscope
The bees bumble about
A summer breeze shagging late buds without sound
The merry hour sprouts
And I whisper corny songs
and the bay explodes
All the words glow warm and aloud
while I slumber through the seaport
Onto a scrap i wrote
a poem and I knocked about
A street band was begging for love birdies’ feet
with sweeping and imploring sound
And I tried so hard
to relive our rising tide
But my wheels and their wires are shrouded in clouds
so I couldn’t reach any further
I was in love and everything felt
like soft whiskers gracing alabaster
And his name was Arthur
His name was Arthur
His name was Arthur
And I never saw Arthur again
I remember your old coat, effete and washed out
And the pinned up red button upon which you wrote
‘I’d rather die than doubt’
But still you would’t come
Guess I wasn’t the one
But before I could enquire my ticket been punched
amidst speculation
I was in love and everything felt
like soft whiskers gracing alabaster
Oh his name was Arthur
His name was Arthur
His name was Arthur
His name was Arthur
And I never saw Arthur again
